ROUND #5 IS HERE!

Hello parents and players! Our fifth round of tournaments is here!

The team’s tournament is THIS SATURDAY!!

THE DETAILS…

The team will play at:

Bradshaw Mountain High School
6000 E Long Look Dr
Prescott Valley, AZ 86314

They are playing the AM WAVE!
That means the team needs to be ON SITE no later than 6:30 unless otherwise directed by your coach.  There is a Coaches’ meeting at 7:30 and play will start promptly at 8:00am! The drive from Mesa is roughly 2-2.5 hours so please plan accordingly.
You will find the format (when the team plays, refs, or is on break) for the day to the right.  If you click the sheet, it will open up in a new window which will allow you to download or print it for your own reading pleasure.  You can also find the map of the location in the upper right of this screen.

*** PAY ATTENTION TO THE NEW FORMAT! ***

We are now into our THIRD tournament.  We are past the seeding portion and are now on to the ‘Bracket’ play portion of the season.  This is played completely different than what we have had so far.  There is a ‘Right Side’ and ‘Left Side’ of the bracket.  Everyone starts in the middle.  Once they play their first match of the day, the winner of the match will move to the right, the loser of the match will move to the left.

Every team will still play three matches.  Once all three matches are complete, the team will be ‘ranked’ based on their results.  There are eight teams in a full bracket.  If you look at the format, you will notice a 1-8 at the bottom of the page.  The names there are where the team is ranked BEFORE the tournament that day.  All eight names will be re-entered AFTER the tournament completion based on the end results.

If you also notice, at the top of the page, the format shows what ‘Division’ your team is in.  Once the tournament day has completed, one of the following things will happen to your team.  If they place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, the team will move UP a Division for the next tournament.  For example, if the team is starting in Division 5, at the next tournament, they will be in Division 4.  If the team places 4th or 5th, they will remain in the SAME Division for the next tournament.  For example, if they are in Division 5 for this tournament and place 4th or 5th, they will be in Division 5 again for the next tournament.  Lastly, if the team places in 6th, 7th, or 8th, the team will DROP a Division for the next tournament.  So for the team that starts in Division 5 this week, will drop to Division 6 for the next tournament.

I know this may be a little confusing so please let me know if you have any questions. REFFING ASSIGNMENTS, with the exception of the very first match, are all determined by winning or losing.  You may have to ref multiple times during the day, you may not have to ref at all.  It all depends.

Please don’t forget the rule about Team Camps: “PACK IN, PACK OUT.”  You are required to take ALL items with you when you leave, INCLUDING ALL TRASH.  Absolutely no trash receptacles, dumpsters, or other disposal areas on site are allowed to be used.  You must take it with you and dispose of it elsewhere.
*** REMEMBER!! *** Absolutely NO FOOD at the scoring table and NO CELL PHONES!  You will be warned only once by the ref, and then you will lose points on your next match. If it happens more than once, you will lose an entire set… Probably something that’s not worth texting your boyfriend over (grin).  Leave your cell phones in your bag AWAY from the table so they are not even a temptation.
Take care and GOOD LUCK this weekend!! If you have any questions or concerns regarding this weekend or how the the pools and brackets work, please feel free to contact me. SEE YOU ON THE COURTS!

** SPECIAL WARNING! **

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET!  Absolutely ZERO food and drink are allowed in the gym besides water.  If you are caught, the team will automatically lose 13 points on their next match!!  The Region is not playing around so please respect this rule!

ALSO: The new ‘trash-in/trash-out’ policy means that ALL (as in EVERYTHING) brought into the camp needs to be taken out.  This includes trash as well.  The venues are NOT responsible for disposing of trash!  Please make sure to bring large trash bags with you and take everything with you when you leave INCLUDING the trash.  Again, this is the responsibility of all teams and their families.  Thanks for understanding and abiding by the new rules.
